Turo Kona Airport

So you are looking at maybe using Turo at Kona Airport.

Here's my take-

We used to use Turo years ago. It's a great system and service and supporting local is great!

One of the main reasons we don't use Turo us because Turo does not allow off-road. (see below)

As of the date of this post (feb 17, 2025) we see Turo's prohibited use policy on their site reflecting this.

OH, and by the way - the corporate companies odn't let you go off-road either and especially not up Mauna Kea

Rental car delivery at Kona Airport-

As far as Turo at the KOA airport- for years, Turo was technically operating at the airport without permission from the airport. This has changed recently and Turo finally got approval for allowing hosts to drop cars at the Kona airport - but is now paying(and collecting) airport concessions fees, just like the corp companies have always done at the airport.

So this has obviously raised the rates of Turo rentals at the airport, and consequently, some hosts are feeling the pain of this.

We often get asked if we can deliver cars to the airport. The answer has always been: "no, it's illegal". Could we do it with a proper agreement with the airport and pay additional airport concession fees? Yes, but why? Why would we? The airport fee is about $11 per DAY

For $11, that's an uber ride over to us

We are literally 5 minutes from the airport curb and super easy to get to us. Easier to get to us than the on-airport agencies. Don't believe me? check out the video I took of getting a shuttle:
